Radončić orders Border Police to ban entry into BiH for persons from affected countries

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - BiH Minister of Security Fahrudin Radončić has ordered the Border Police to ban entry into BiH for citizens from countries most affected by the coronavirus. An urgent meeting was organized today, chaired by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, attended by entity prime ministers Fadil Novalić and Radovan Višković, and the Council of Ministers of BiH agreed that urgent and effective measures are necessary to protect public health.

"The Border Police, after the letter from the BiH Ministry of Security, will, I am fully convinced, competently implement the necessary measures to ban entry for foreign nationals from risky areas, along with its director Zoran Galić and the operational staff," Radončić said.

He added that in such situations, it is always better to take two steps forward than one step back.

"The need to adopt all necessary measures and actions to prevent the spread and suppression of infectious diseases, i.e., coronavirus, was stated, in accordance with the requests of entity institutions and in line with the recommendations of epidemiologists and the World Health Organization.

In accordance with this, I ask you to immediately take actions within your powers and responsibilities in terms of banning entry into BiH for foreign nationals coming from areas with intensive transmission of coronavirus. This particularly applies to persons who have stayed in Italy, certain provinces of China, South Korea, and Iran," the letter addressed to the Director of the BiH Border Police reads.
