Worker hit by excavator at Crni Vrh, Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office investigating

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate today released details of a tragic accident at a construction site of a residential building at Crni Vrh, in which one person died.

"During construction work, a worker was injured. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers confirmed the report, and the duty doctor from the Sarajevo Canton Emergency Medical Service pronounced the death of the 57-year-old male, R.Š. from Sarajevo. The injury occurred after the deceased worker was hit by a work machine – an excavator, operated by 55-year-old I.K. from Vogošća.

The investigation was led by a prosecutor from the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, and was carried out by members of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate, with the presence of court experts in construction and occupational safety – inspectors from the Occupational Safety Inspectorate.

The body of the deceased was transported by a vehicle of the Public Utility Company "Pokop" to the mortuary of the Bare cemetery. The prosecutor qualified the said event as a Serious criminal offense against the safety of people and property (Article 328, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), in connection with the criminal offense of Improper and incorrect execution of construction works (Article 326, paragraph 1, of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Police officers of the Police Directorate are taking further measures and actions to document the mentioned criminal offenses.
