Higher wages for workers, lower contributions and taxes for employers

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of BiH held a Program Convention in Sarajevo where policies and activities contained in Plan 10 were presented. Special attention was paid to solutions aimed at improving the living standards of workers and the working conditions of employers throughout BiH.

- Our economy needs radical measures to set it on the path to recovery and accelerated progress. In this regard, part of our Plan 10 envisages a drastic tax relief for employers and the economy as a whole. At the same time, since employers will have more funds and opportunities to develop their companies, we will also enable a significant improvement in workers' rights and their wages. First and foremost, we will achieve this by adopting the Law on Minimum Wage - said SDP President Nermin Nikšić.

Segmedina Srna-Bajramović, Vice-President of the SDP BiH, stated that without a healthy healthcare system adapted to all citizens of a country, there can be no economic progress.

- Our hospitals are in poor condition, skilled personnel are employed in European countries, which greatly diminishes the hospitals' ability to meet citizens' needs. Patients have to bring their own medication for treatment and are happy if they don't wait for months for an examination. Essential drug lists are getting shorter. Drugs outside the lists are increasingly needed. Plan 10 knows how to re-enable health insurance and how to finance it! Let's not let people who only care about themselves decide on our health. BiH is as much ours as it is theirs, if not more so - said Srna-Bajramović.

Damir Mašić, President of the SDP Sarajevo Cantonal Organization, said that Plan 10 pays special attention to education, its reform, and modernization.

- We have a clear picture of the situation, we have a clear goal we want to achieve, and the ways to bring education closer to European standards. With Plan 10, we have promised to modernize and renovate at least 100 schools annually. We know that our schools are dilapidated and unsuitable, with almost no investment in decades. We want our children to attend modern and equipped schools where they will learn to think and be people, and to emerge as developed individuals without fear for their future and the future of their country - stated Mašić.

Irfan Čengić, Secretary General of the SDP BiH, presenting the basics of the Election Program – Plan 10, stated that the SDP has returned, stronger than ever before.

- People in the SDP believe again and expect it to be what the vast majority of citizens want – change, added Čengić.

Saša Magazinović, President of the Main Board of the SDP BiH, said that the implementation of Plan 10 requires the support of citizens.

- We need the support of citizens to put this into action. We feel and see that support, which has been coming from many sides recently. We have the best recovery program for our BiH, and people see that - emphasized Magazinović.
