TTU Workers to Wait Another 15 Days: Meeting in Elektroprivreda in Sarajevo Today

A meeting of workers of the Transport Equipment Factory (TTU), which is in bankruptcy, was held in Tuzla today, and it was decided to extend the deadline by 15 days to attempt to sell part of the assets for the fifth time, valued at 6.3 million KM, writes Patria.

There were no interested buyers for the fourth sale announcement, continuing the agony for around 240 workers. Not so long ago, the workers were on a hunger strike, their lives were endangered, and Prime Minister Fadil Novalić told them, "if they could wait for years, they can wait a little longer.".

Former workers of this company are in a literally hopeless situation, and they claim the factory could have worked and produced with million-dollar contracts, especially since they worked for Italy.

Mehmed Terzić, representative of former TTU workers, told Patria that the bankruptcy trustee told them today that due to technical conditions, no offer was received for the purchase of part of the assets, and that this will be done in the next 15 days.

We will wait for these 15 days too. Today, the bankruptcy trustee has a meeting in Sarajevo at Elektroprivreda. We will have a meeting every Monday for these 15 days, and if our status is not resolved, we will no longer leave the factory - says Terzić.

Although JP Elektroprivreda of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Banovići Mine, which recently formed a joint company, were expected to appear as buyers, this did not happen. Former workers expected enough money to be allocated from the sale to cover pension contributions, so that some of them could retire.

We remind you that the TTU workers started their previous hunger strike on September 26, and due to the workers' poor health, the hunger strike was broken on October 7.

The Federal Government, with the support of the cantonal government led by Bego Gutić (SDA), promised last year to open a new company, employ these workers, and pay their contributions. However, none of that has been fulfilled to this day.
