Radmanović blocks sanctions and drags BiH to Russia's side!

Bosnia and Herzegovina will not impose sanctions on Russian officials that were recently adopted by the United States and the European Union, because Nebojša Radmanović, a member of the BiH Presidency from the Serb people, is opposing it, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

Namely, BiH Presidency member Nebojša Radmanović issued a statement today in which he clarifies his position and reveals that BiH has not joined the European Union's statement on sanctions against Russia due to the illegal referendum in Crimea.

Interestingly, Radmanović issued a statement today about a session that was held on March 6.

At that session, the BiH Presidency discussed the political situation in Ukraine for the first time on March 6, and then adopted a Statement on the Political Situation in Ukraine by consensus, which represented BiH's general foreign policy stance on this issue.

However, Radmanović announces that BiH has not joined the sanctions, effectively announcing that if the issue is discussed, he will not support BiH joining the Western stance on the annexation of Crimea or the situation in Ukraine.

- The BiH Presidency did not join the European Union's statement on the political situation in Ukraine because there was no consensus between the members of the BiH Presidency during the consultation process, which is necessary on foreign policy issues. All other opinions and positions that are not in line with the positions of the BiH Presidency are not legally and politically valid and binding – states Radmanović.

Sources from the cabinets of the other two members of the BiH Presidency told us that they too are surprised by the stance publicly announced by Radmanović, especially since they had previously adopted a joint statement on the events in Ukraine.

- But that was before the referendum and sanctions, so it is possible that consensus on the events no longer exists – it was unofficially stated to the NAP agency from the BiH Presidency.
