
The Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe, organized a one-day workshop on the topic „International Cooperation in the Fight Against Human Trafficking“, reports the Patria news agency.
The workshop was opened by the Deputy Director of the Directorate, Mile Jurić, who in his welcoming speech highlighted the importance of police cooperation in the fight against human trafficking between police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and international partners.
The lecturers at the workshop were Anton Travner, Director of the Centre for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF Ljubljana), Sandi Čurin, National Coordinator for the Fight Against Human Trafficking from the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, Tomaž Peršolja, representative of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, and Vitalie Savin, representative of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Moldova. The workshop was also attended by the Police Liaison Officer of the Republic of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Janko Goršek.
Through presentations on the mentioned topic, the lecturers shared with the participants experiences from their countries and positive practices that will certainly be of great importance in the fight against human trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The importance of cooperation between police agencies through the Secretariat of the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe was also emphasized.
Samir Rizvo, Assistant Minister of Security and National Coordinator for the Fight Against Human Trafficking, spoke during the workshop about the most significant activities that Bosnia and Herzegovina is undertaking in the fight against human trafficking and previous experiences.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the State Investigation and Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, the Special Prosecutor's Office of the Republika Srpska, the Federal Prosecutor's Office, the Brčko District Police, the Ministry of Interior of the Republika Srpska, the Federal Police Administration and cantonal ministries of interior, the OSCE, the NGO Emmaus, and the Social Work Centres of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, the DKPT announced.
