Putin thanked Santa Claus for helping him become president

(Patria) - Vladimir Putin thanked Santa Claus for helping him become president of Russia, almost 22 years after he entered the Kremlin on December 31, 1999.

"I have always had a good relationship with Santa Claus. I am grateful to him for helping me speak to you as president, but I am even more grateful to the Russian people who have entrusted me with this position," Putin told reporters who asked him what kind of relationship he maintained with Santa Claus.

Putin became acting president of Russia after Boris Yeltsin's resignation on December 31, 1999, and has been managing the country's destiny ever since.

However, in Russia, Santa Claus distributes gifts on New Year's Eve.

"I hope he will share gifts with us and fulfill the projects of the country and every citizen," Putin added at his annual press conference.
