Putin sees 'light at the end of the tunnel' in Russia-US relations

(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday there is a 'light at the end of the tunnel' in relations between Russia and the United States, Reuters reported.

During a visit to a nuclear research center, he said he was confident that the leadership qualities of President Donald Trump would help restore relations from their recent low points.

"With the arrival of President Trump, I think a light at the end of the tunnel has finally appeared. And now we had a very good, significant and sincere meeting in Alaska," Putin said, referring to the summit held last week.

"The next steps now depend on the leadership of the United States, but I am convinced that the leadership qualities of the current president, President Trump, are a good guarantee that relations will be restored."
