Putin visits China: Dozens of cooperation agreements to be signed

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China on Friday for an official visit with a large delegation of ministers and businessmen, reports the Russian news agency Tass, NAP reports.

Putin will hold talks with Chinese leaders on numerous current issues, both bilateral and international, including the situation in Syria, the Korean Peninsula, and Afghanistan.

Putin arrived in Beijing from Uzbekistan, where the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit was held.

The Kremlin hopes that the Russian leader's visit to China will be productive, aiming to sign more than 50 agreements.

The purpose of the visit is to launch joint projects in the fields of investment, agricultural development, and transport, as well as cooperation in economy, trade, energy, atomic energy, aviation, and rocket and space industries.

The signing of an intergovernmental agreement is planned, which will launch a program for the joint development and construction of a wide-body aircraft and a heavy civil helicopter.

The leaders of the two countries are also expected to officially start negotiations for the preparation of an agreement between the integration projects - the Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road Economic Belt.

One of the largest bilateral projects between Moscow and Beijing remains the construction of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, through which Russia will supply China with up to 38 billion cubic meters of gas annually. Negotiations are also underway for the construction of the western branch - Power of Siberia 2 - via Altai.
