(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will be on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced.
On Thursday, October 7, Putin will hold talks with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in Russia.
When asked if Putin would discuss possible coordinated actions on global oil markets during his trip to the Persian Gulf, Peskov said that such discussions had taken place within the OPEC+ group, but that this issue is always on the agenda.
The visit will follow last week's agreement by OPEC+ to voluntarily cut oil supplies by about 2.2 million barrels per day, which was met with skepticism in the oil market.
Kremlin aide for foreign policy Yuri Ushakov announced that Putin will first go to the UAE and then to Saudi Arabia, where negotiations will mainly be held with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Putin and the prince have developed close ties, which were crucial for the agreement to form a group of leading oil producers, now known as OPEC+, in late 2016.
In the Emirates, Dubai has become an important trading hub for Russian oil companies, including the second-largest producer, Lukoil, which has moved part of its operations there.
