(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow is not abandoning natural gas supplies to Europe and that several routes can be used for this purpose, TASS reported.
"There are several routes by which Russian gas can be supplied to European consumers. And we are not abandoning these supplies," Putin said in an interview with a VGTRK journalist.
Putin said that "the current route, and that is Yamal-Europe through Poland. The Poles closed this route, that was their decision".
"Then there is one branch (of the pipeline) along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, this is Nord Stream 2. As a result of a terrorist attack, the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline and one branch of Nord Stream 2 were destroyed, but one survived and is operational," Putin said, speaking about the second supply option. But he noted that "it really depends only on the German government whether to turn it on or not".
"We are ready for supplies via this route as well," the Russian president said.
He added that there are also options for supplying gas in transit through the territory of Ukraine, which the Russian Federation is also not abandoning.
