(Patria) - Russia could decide to redirect its oil and gas supplies from Europe to other buyers before the European Union decides to close the door, Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday at a meeting on global oil and gas markets in the Kremlin, TASS reported.
He said that from April 25, European Union countries plan to introduce additional restrictions on Russian hydrocarbons, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), which will be completely banned in 2027.
"In this regard, the government has already set the task of assessing the possibility and feasibility of stopping supplies of our fuel to the European market, without waiting for the door to be demonstratively slammed in our face," Putin said.
"The task is to do this now and redirect these quantities from European markets to promising areas, and, most importantly, to establish ourselves there."
