(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that peace talks in Ukraine must be resumed, but that Moscow will cooperate exclusively with legitimate leaders in Kyiv.
Putin said at a press conference in Minsk that negotiations must reflect the reality on the ground.
Russia questions the legitimacy of the government in Kyiv and the presidential position of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after Ukraine announced that it would not hold elections this year due to the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy won the presidential mandate in 2019, when he defeated former president Petro Poroshenko, and the next elections were supposed to be held in March or April.
