Putin spoke with Iranian Minister Aragchi: Aggression against Iran has no justification, we will help the Iranian people

(Patria) - President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin spoke today in Moscow with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, and stated that the American bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities represents unjustified aggression and that Russia is making efforts to help the Iranian people.

Araqchi's visit comes just two days after US President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on three main nuclear facilities in Iran, which caused global concern about a possible escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

"Absolutely unprovoked aggression against Iran has no justification or legal basis. We, for our part, are making efforts to help the Iranian people, and I am very pleased that you are in Moscow today, as it gives us the opportunity to discuss these pressing issues and jointly consider how to get out of this difficult situation," Putin stated during the meeting, which was open to the media.

Putin emphasized that Russia-Iran relations are "long-term, friendly, and reliable," and conveyed his best wishes to the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also informed him that he had telephone conversations with US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, UAE President Mohammed Al Nahyan, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Minister Araqchi responded by saying that Iran acted in legitimate self-defense after attacks carried out by the United States and Israel, and thanked Russia for its "clear and principled condemnation of these unacceptable moves."

"As you well know, the level of escalation continues to rise day by day. Unfortunately, we have been attacked - not only by Israel but also by the United States, which decided to attack our facilities. These acts of aggression by Israel and the US are completely illegitimate and violate international law and established norms. We are now defending our sovereignty and our country, and our defense is completely legitimate.

We are grateful to our Russian colleagues and friends for their principled stance and decisive condemnation of these acts of aggression. Today, Russia stands on the right side of history and international law," Aragchi said.

The Russian side confirmed that President Trump did not inform Putin in advance about the airstrikes.
