Putin declared a unilateral ceasefire in Ukraine from May 8 to 11

(Patria) - The President of Russia Vladimir Putin today declared a unilateral ceasefire in Ukraine. Putin ordered a halt to all military operations in Ukraine from midnight on May 7 to 8 until midnight on May 10 to 11, the Kremlin announced.

"Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example," the statement said, noting that Moscow will provide an adequate and effective response in case Ukraine violates the ceasefire.

"The Russian side once again expresses its readiness for peace negotiations without any preconditions, aimed at eliminating the causes of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive cooperation with international partners," it added.

Ukraine has not yet officially commented on this decision.
