Putin: I take Trump's claims that he will stop the war in Ukraine seriously

(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that he "very seriously" takes the statements of Republican and former US President Donald Trump that, if re-elected, he will quickly stop the war between Russia and Ukraine.

- Mr. Trump, as a presidential candidate, says he is ready and willing to stop the war in Ukraine.

We take all of this very seriously - stated the Russian president during a press conference in Astana, Kazakhstan, where the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is underway.

Polls in the US show that US President Joseph Biden, whose administration supports Ukraine's defense against the Russian invasion, is trailing his competitor Trump by several percentage points among citizens, with whom he performed very poorly in a TV debate.
