Putin: We do not want to create problems for the new president of Ukraine

(Patria) – Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Wednesday that it is unacceptable for residents of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk to have no rights, but he also said that Moscow does not want to 'create problems for the new president of Ukraine', agencies report.  

Three days after the presidential elections in Ukraine, Putin signed a decree relaxing the procedure for obtaining Russian passports for residents of Donetsk and Luhansk, areas controlled by separatists, which Kyiv condemned, Reuters reports.

The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs called this move 'aggression and interference'. 

We remind you that the new president of Ukraine is Volodymyr Zelensky, a former comedian who plays the president in a popular series.

Zelensky took advantage of the public's anti-government sentiment, running an unusual campaign full of jokes, comedy performances, and clever social media posts to which he has millions of followers.
