Putin: Warheads on Oreshnik missiles withstand heat equal to the temperature of the Sun

(Patria) - The warheads mounted on the Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missiles withstand heat equal to the temperature on the surface of the Sun, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

- The whole world is talking about Oreshnik. And what about the materials? The temperature on these warheads
corresponds to the temperature of the Sun, the temperature on the surface of the Sun.

We understand that. Since the 1980s, we have been developing boost-glide vehicle systems which we called Avangard.
It has comparable temperatures, slightly lower than on the surface of the Sun.

Russian scientists were thinking about creating such systems back in the late 1980s. But they could not because there were no materials. That was the problem.

It flies and melts like ice cream. And the control signal passes through - Putin stated at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum, adding that the innovations are "the result of work on new materials," TASS reported.
