Putin: US plan for Ukraine could be basis for final peace settlement

(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed yesterday that he received the US plan for Ukraine, assessing that the 28-point document could be the basis for a peace settlement, TASS reported.

Putin told a meeting of the Russian Security Council that the plan could be used as a basis for a final peace settlement in Ukraine, emphasizing that it had not been discussed with the Russian side in any way.

- I can guess why. The reason, I believe, is the same - the US administration has not yet managed to secure the agreement of the Ukrainian side. Ukraine is against it - Putin believes.

However, the Russian head of state stated that Trump's proposal was discussed during their summit in Alaska in August.

Putin described the 28-point plan as an "updated" version of those discussions.

- During preliminary discussions on the Ukrainian settlement, the US asked Russia to show flexibility - Putin stated.

He also points out that Moscow confirmed its readiness to show flexibility regarding the settlement as Washington requested.

Putin assessed that Ukraine and its European allies "are probably still living in the illusion that they can inflict a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield".

The US delegation, led by Secretary of Defense Daniel Driscoll, presented Trump's plan for resolving the conflict to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on November 20.

Reuters reported that the US administration had set an ultimatum for Ukraine, demanding that it sign the plan by November 27, threatening to suspend arms supplies and intelligence sharing if it did not do so.
