Full support for the Fifth Police Administration and inspection in resolving the migrant crisis

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Due to recent events in Ilidža where a migrant was killed in the Municipality of Ilidža on September 2, 2020, a session of the Security Commission of the Municipal Council of Ilidža was held. The commission expresses concern and supports the work of the Fifth Police Administration, and calls on international organizations for migration (IOM), as well as all levels of government in BiH to actively engage in resolving the migrant crisis in this municipality of Ilidža, as well as throughout BiH, in accordance with international conventions and laws.

Based on information and knowledge about the renting of residential buildings to migrants in the area of the municipality of Ilidža, the Security Commission calls on the inspection bodies of the Sarajevo Canton and the Municipality of Ilidža to carry out inspection supervision and take activities within their jurisdiction. Aware of the limited capabilities of the Fifth Police Administration of Ilidža, the Commission supports the increased presence of police officers in the area of the Ilidža Terminal, as well as in all other places designated by the authorities as migrant gathering points in this local community. The Security Commission of the Municipal Council of Ilidža calls on the authorities to, in accordance with international conventions and laws of BiH, build reception centers with regulation of stay, entry and exit of migrants far from urban areas.
