Shooting in Baščaršija: Admir Lekić from Sarajevo lightly wounded, search for attacker underway

(Patria) - Admir Lekić, also known as Leka, from Sarajevo was injured in a shooting that took place today in Bravadžiluk street in Sarajevo, Faktor has learned.

The person who shot at Lekić is known to the police, and a search is underway for them. Lekić sustained a minor injury, a bullet grazed his leg.

MUP of Sarajevo Canton spokesperson Mersiha Novalić confirmed that the use of firearms in Bravadžiluk street in the Old Town was reported at 1:20 PM.

"One person sustained minor bodily injuries to the leg. The police have operational knowledge of the perpetrator and are actively working to shed light on the case," Novalić said.

Admir Lekić has a history of criminal offenses, including attempted murder, violent behavior, endangering security, illegal possession of weapons, etc.

An indictment against him was recently confirmed for the criminal offenses of causing serious bodily injury, causing minor bodily injury, endangering security, and damaging another person's property.

He is accused of beating his ex-girlfriend and a passerby who tried to help her on December 24 last year, after midnight, on Carev most in the Old Town municipality of Sarajevo, after which he threatened to kill her if she reported him to the police.

He is also accused of causing her serious bodily injury on January 13, around 11:30 PM, in Veliki Alifakovac street, by hitting her in the head with his fist multiple times.

Lekić also served a sentence of nine years and eight months for the attempted murder of Amar Fočo in August 2014, whom he shot with an automatic rifle for no apparent reason around 3 AM in Olovska street in Sarajevo.

According to the verdict, Amar Fočo was standing in front of the entrance of the building where he lived, wearing boxer shorts and a t-shirt, waiting for his brother, who was coming from the bus station, to pay him for a taxi.

Driving past him, Lekić addressed him with the words: "You monkey, what are you doing walking the street like that," and when Fočo replied that he lived there, that he came out to pay his brother for a taxi, and that Lekić couldn't tell him how to walk, Lekić replied: "Are you trying to be tough, why are you answering me, do you want me to get out?"

Fočo told him: "I only fear Allah," to which Lekić replied: "You will fear me," after which he got out of the vehicle, approached him holding a CZ M56 automatic rifle, and with the intent to kill him from a distance of one to two meters, pointed the rifle barrel in his direction and fired five shots.

Fočo was seriously wounded and was hospitalized for almost a month, but he managed to recover.
