Shot a robber, then got two years in prison

A source speaking to the Patria news agency on condition of anonymity revealed how he received a two-year prison sentence for wounding a thief in the hand with a pistol who tried to rob his cellar, while the robber got off with a few months of probation.

This unfortunate man from Breza recounted how he found a thief at the entrance to his cellar carrying out his chainsaw and some other valuable tools. Fearing that the burglar might hurt him, he fired a single bullet that hit the robber in the hand.

- I came home from the second shift. While I was having dinner, I heard someone walking around in my cellar. I took the pistol, although I had never done that before, and went to see what was happening in the cellar. At that moment, I found myself face to face with the robber who was holding my belongings. I felt that he was scared of me, but I was also scared of him. Fearing that he might hurt me, I fired one bullet and wounded him in the hand. The neighbors immediately called the police. After that, I received a two-year prison sentence for illegal possession and use of a weapon, while the thief got a suspended sentence – this source recounted.
