SARAJevo, (Patria) - For crimes against the civilian population of Bosniak nationality in Janja in the period from 1992 to 1994, in the first-instance verdict, Milan Đokić and Branislav Trišić were sentenced to three years in prison, while Zoran Tanasić, Žrako Milanović, and Mladen Krajišnik were sentenced to two years in prison each.

This refers to the brutal beating of civilians of Bosniak nationality in an attempt to find out which Bosniaks in Janja possessed weapons.

Measures were imposed on them: confiscation of travel documents, prohibition of crossing the border with identity cards, and reporting to the competent police station every 15 days. Regarding the part of the indictment related to crimes against humanity, all defendants, all eight of them, were acquitted, including the death of Đulzida Durgutović (shot in the head while standing at the window of her family home), and the death of Abdulah Huremović after surgery due to injuries.

Savo Mršić, Milivoje Čobić, and Milan Marković were acquitted of all charges.

The original indictment concerned a crime against humanity committed in the Janja area as part of a widespread and systematic attack, but the Council reclassified the offense as a war crime against the civilian population.
