First time in the history of North Korea, a bank was robbed

A bank was robbed in broad daylight in North Korea. This is the first such case in the history of the existence of that country, reported Radio Free Asia, citing anonymous sources, reports the Patria news agency.

According to media reports, the robbery took place on April 4 in the port city of Chongjin in the northeast of the country. The target of the robbers was a local branch of the Central Bank of North Korea. As the source explained, the bank is located in a busy part of the city, near the province's main theater.

The bank had security, but apparently, it was negligent in its duties, as it was not at its post when the robbery occurred. The robbers entered the bank and forced the employees to hand over all the money that was in the bank at that moment, about 70 million won, which is slightly less than 9,000 dollars.

According to the investigators who soon arrived at the scene, one of the bank employees was helping the robbers. The criminals knew exactly when the guards would leave their posts and when there would be enough money in the safes.

On the eve of the 7th Congress of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, there was more money in bank safes than usual due to preparations for various ceremonies.
