The new voting system at Eurovision proved to be a great success, as it created an incredibly tense atmosphere. Several countries were in contention for victory in the final moments of voting, writes the Patria News Agency.
Juries from 42 countries voted, and then the televoting results were presented from the last-placed country.
Ukraine's representative Jamala collected 534 points, which is a new record. This is Ukraine's second Eurovision victory. They won in Istanbul in 2004 with the song Wild Dance performed by Ruslana.
For the first time in the 60-year history of Eurovision, someone has managed to win from the 21st position in the final.
