SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipality of Stari Grad, as in the previous ten years, held a grand ceremony and distributed backpacks and school supplies to its youngest schoolchildren. The Mayor of the Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, once again wished the students a happy start to their education, handed out backpacks and school supplies, and socialized with the first-graders during the entertainment prepared just for them. The ceremony and a special program were held at the Youth Theatre, and 230 first-graders who started one of the six primary schools in Stari Grad, as well as attendees from the Mjedenica Institute, were present.
"This is a major turning point in the lives of our youngest citizens, and with such a joyful event, we want to welcome them to a new world. From the bottom of my heart, I wish our first-graders, parents, and teachers a happy and successful start to this 2019/2020 school year," said Mayor Hadžibajrić.
First-graders also received their class schedules today with a message from Mayor Hadžibajrić for all of them:
Dear first-graders,
you are at the beginning of a chapter in your lives that will bring you much joy, laughter, sometimes tears, but above all knowledge, experience, and good friendships. On this journey, do not forget to be happy, to learn, but also to socialize with your peers and enjoy every moment of your life. Never forget to respect your parents, teachers, and all those who help you on your life's path and want to make you good people. Love each other, learn, and become our bright future!
Teacher Sedina Mešanović from Primary School "Edhem Mulabdić" was also with her new first-grade students today.
"After yesterday's special reception at school for our first-graders, this is another event that means a lot to them, and to us teachers as well," said teacher Sedina, who hopes her new students will accept her well.
First-grader from Stari Grad, Semin, already anticipates what awaits him at school: "We will learn to write, to read, and today I am here for the play, which I love very much. When I grow up, I want to fly a plane," wished Semin.
The cheerful first-graders were entertained with musical performances by older students from the primary schools "Šejh Muhamed efendija Hadžijamaković" and "Saburina", and then by Mravko Travko, which caused particular delight among the children.
Many of them also used the Instagram frame for a photo and a lasting memory of this day.
