(Patria) - Iranian television read out the first statement from Iran's new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtabe Khamenei. He praised the Iranian people for their courage and insight in recent events, emphasizing that it was the citizens who took the lead and guaranteed the country's authority at a time when they were deprived of "the greatest blessing" (referring to his father).
He stated that all American bases in the region must be closed immediately, otherwise they will be attacked.
He stressed that Iran desires friendly relations with neighboring countries, but will continue attacks on American military bases in the region.
He added that Iran does not target neighboring countries, but exclusively American military facilities involved in attacks on Iran.
He called for national unity and stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to exert pressure on Iran's enemies.
The new Iranian supreme leader announced the continuation of revenge.
"We will avenge the blood of our martyrs," Khamenei stated.
Mojtaba Khamenei thanked the Iranian army, saying it prevented Iran from being subjugated or divided while the country was under attack.
"I would like to thank the brave fighters who are doing a great job at a time when our country is under pressure and under attack," he said.
Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said that armed groups in Yemen and Iraq support Iran in the conflict.
According to him, Iran plans to seek financial retaliation as well: "We will seek compensation from the enemy. If they refuse, we will seize their assets in the amount we deem appropriate, and if that is not possible, we will destroy their property to the same extent."
