Protests in Sweden against Israeli attacks on Gaza

(Patria) - Hundreds of people gathered at Odenplan Square in Stockholm on Saturday to protest against Israeli attacks on Gaza, responding to a call from several civil society groups.

Demonstrators accused Israel of violating the ceasefire of October 10 by renewed airstrikes and restricting humanitarian aid to the enclave.

Carrying banners reading "Bombing civilians is not self-defense", "Say no to genocide", "Rise up for Palestine", "Lift food restrictions" and "Israel must respect the peace agreement", demonstrators called on the Swedish government to impose a full military embargo on Israel.

The crowd of demonstrators later marched towards the Swedish parliament.

Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli military launched a series of heavy airstrikes and carried out demolitions in several areas under its control across the Gaza Strip, marking new violations of the ceasefire agreement that entered its first phase on October 10.

The Israeli military continues to hold control over the southern and eastern corridors of the Gaza Strip, along with large parts of the north, covering more than 50 percent of the enclave.

Israel continues to violate the ceasefire it signed with Hamas, committing hundreds of violations and killing 366 Palestinians by Thursday, according to official sources from Gaza.

Israel has killed more than 70,000 people, mostly women and children, and wounded nearly 171,000 others in attacks in Gaza since October 2023.
