The AKCIJA Sarajevo Association invites all citizens who volunteered during last year's "I am the Museum" campaign to support the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the local celebration of the award for the employees and activists of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, recipients of the prestigious Grand Prix 2016 for cultural heritage, jointly awarded by the European Commission and Europa Nostra. The local celebration is scheduled for Friday, October 21st, at 11 AM at the National Museum of BiH, Patria reports.
During this period, admission to the Museum will be free for all citizens, with the following program:
11:00 AM - Group photo of all citizens and activists who participated in the "I am the Museum" campaign by volunteering at the closed National Museum of BiH during the summer of 2015, with Museum employees and the Europa Nostra award.
11:05 AM - Address: Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary General of Europa Nostra, and John Sell, Executive Vice President of Europa Nostra
11:15 AM - Address: Khaldoun Sinno, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina
11:20 AM - Address: Mirsad Sijarić, Director of the National Museum of BiH
11:25 AM - Address: Aida Kalender, Program Director of UG Akcija
As part of the celebration at the National Museum, a special mini-concert will be held by Spanish artist Jordi Savall, one of the most renowned viola da gamba virtuosos and a recipient of the prestigious Grammy Award. On the international stage, he is recognized as one of the leading instrumentalists and conductors for early European music, particularly Renaissance and medieval. Maestro Savall was the Ambassador for the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in 2011. Maestro Savall will perform at the National Museum of BiH in a quartet with Turkish and Armenian musicians – Yurdal Tokcan (oud), Hakan Güngör (kanun), and Haïg Sarikouyoumdjian (duduk, ney).
This celebration will be an opportunity to honor, above all, the employees of the National Museum of BiH who, through their dedication and daily volunteering during the three years the Museum was closed to the public, saved the Museum and its collections. It also aims to thank all citizens and activists who participated in the "I am the Museum" campaign last year, showing solidarity with the Museum staff.
Citizens who wish to be in the group photo with the Europa Nostra award, which will be communicated in domestic and international media, are invited to come to the plateau in front of the National Museum of BiH on Friday, October 21st, 2016, about ten minutes before 11 AM.
Citizens, employees, and activists gathered in the "I am the Museum" campaign are the central focus of this celebration, and each of them will have the opportunity to be photographed with the bronze figure of the Europa Nostra award, and the photo will subsequently be published on the Facebook page of the "I am the Museum" campaign.
