(Patria) - Thousands of anti-war demonstrators expressed anger on Saturday near the White House over what they said was US President Joe Biden's tolerance of Israel's bloody military campaign against Hamas, AFP reported.
Chanting "From DC to Palestine, we are the red line," protesters held a long banner bearing the names of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces, as the fighting enters its ninth month.
The White House said in May that Israel's attack on Rafah did not cross the "red line" Biden had set two months earlier when asked about a potential invasion of the southern Gaza city.
Demonstrators, almost all wearing red clothing, held Palestinian flags and signs reading "Biden's red line was a lie" and "Bombing children is not self-defense."
The White House reinforced security with an additional fence ahead of the protests, for which chartered buses transported people from as far as Maine and Florida.
Five months into his election battle with Republican candidate Donald Trump, Biden faces pressure from Muslim and young voters, blocs considered key to his re-election bid.
