Body of fourth American soldier missing in Lithuania found

(Patria) - The body of the fourth American soldier was found near Pabradė, in the Švenčionys district, the US European Command announced today, reports Lithuanian media LRT.

"The fourth American soldier was found dead near Pabradė on April 1st", the statement published on the Facebook social network reads.

- First and foremost, we express our condolences to the families of our soldiers. I cannot thank them enough for the support we have received from our allies in Lithuania.

We relied on them, and they, along with our Polish and Estonian allies, as well as our sailors, airmen, and engineers, helped find and bring our soldiers home - said General Christopher Donahue, commander of US forces for Europe and Africa.

He emphasizes that this is a tragic event, but it confirms what it means to have allies and friends.

Following the death of the fourth soldier from the American contingent deployed in Lithuania, the leadership of the National Defence System expressed deep condolences to his family.

According to a statement from the Lithuanian army, the soldier's family has been notified of his death. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas also expressed their condolences.
