Found Hanged in Airport Toilet: Former BBC Journalist Murdered?

Friends of a former BBC journalist whose body was found hanged in a Turkish airport toilet say it is "impossible" that she committed suicide and claim she was murdered, reports the Patria news agency.  

Jacky Sutton was travelling from London's Heathrow and landed at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport where she missed her flight to Erbil, Iraq. Local media reports that she was upset because she had to buy a new ticket, and her body was later found hanged in a toilet by three Russian passengers. 

Iraqi journalist Mazin Elias, who worked with the 50-year-old Sutton, says it is "impossible" that she committed suicide.

-Someone killed Jacky, he said. 

Elias also does not believe the claims that she was late for her flight.

-No, that is not possible, we are not talking about a girl. She is a woman, an official woman, she is a great manager.

Doubts that Sutton committed suicide are also expressed by other people who knew her.

-The strongest woman you could meet, and the Turkish police say she committed suicide because she missed a flight? wrote her friend and colleague Christian Bleuer on Twitter.

-I am not for conspiracy theories, but if the Turks say that the security camera at Ataturk was 'broken', then Jacky Sutton was killed. 

Sutton worked as the director of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting, an organisation that supports the activities of journalists in crisis areas. The news comes five months after the institute's previous director, Ammar Al Shahbander, was killed in a car bomb attack in Iraq, writes Index.
