(Patria) - Traveling photographer Boris Trogrančić used the good weather to visit Prokoško Lake (1,636 meters above sea level) and the peak of Stražica (1,806 meters above sea level).
"Since it is already mid-November, the first snow of this autumn has fallen on most of Bosnia and Herzegovina's mountains.
As a mountaineer and photographer, I like visiting Prokoško Lake the most at the end of the tourist season because then there is no noise from quad bikes, no crowds, and no many tourists.
In fact, during my visit to the lake, I found no one there. Only the mountain covered with the first snow and the cold north wind showing its true face.
My tour of the Stražica peak, from which a considerable part of the Vranica mountain range, to which it belongs, is visible, was rewarded with incredible sunset scenes.
Descending back to the lake, the last rays of the sun were reflected on the roofs of the deserted huts, and only a few mountain birds defied the cold wind.
Recently, the alpine newt, a mysterious endemic amphibian that was eradicated due to the stocking of the lake with trout, was returned to Prokoško Lake.
This is good news, as is the fact that Prokoško Lake was recently included in the initiative 'The Most Beautiful Villages of Bosnia and Herzegovina' (among 15 other villages), organized by USAID's Sustainable Tourism Development Project in BiH and the Alterural association.
The goal of this project is to preserve the villages of Bosnia and Herzegovina by recognizing their natural and cultural heritage and suggesting preservation policies to local communities," said Trogrančić, writes Punkufer.hr.
