SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Unprecedented storm that hit the area of Teočak Municipality, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, last night around 9 PM caused enormous damage to infrastructure and residential buildings, and the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters declared a state of natural disaster at an emergency session.

"Flash floods caused enormous damage. The most severe situation is in the local communities of Sniježnica, Centar, and Jasikovac. We still don't know how many residential buildings have been flooded, the damages are still being tallied," said Amir Šabaškić, assistant head of the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters.

The regional road Teočak – Sapna is cut off, and besides residential buildings and infrastructure, the flash flood also threatened the cemetery.

Fortunately, there were no human casualties, although one of the residents of Sniježnica found himself in his car when a flash flood carrying everything in its path hit it. With successful maneuvering, he managed to avoid the worst-case scenario.

Since this morning, residents of Sniježnica, Centar, and Jasikovac are cleaning their properties and looking in disbelief at everything the flash flood has taken away.

The damages caused a day after heavy rainfall are in the millions in this area. Representatives of local and cantonal authorities, as well as local and cantonal Civil Protection, who visited the endangered areas today, emphasize that the priority is to put the road into operation in any way, as most houses can only be reached on foot from the main road.
