Admitted to the Attack: Edin Mekić Stabbed 19-Year-Old Woman from Sarajevo

On Wednesday, September 2, around 4 PM, police officers from the General Crime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton arrested 35-year-old Edin Mekić from Sarajevo on grounds of suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of grievous bodily harm, reports the Patria News Agency.

On August 29, in an apartment on Zuke Džumhura Street, Centar Municipality Sarajevo, Mekić beat and stabbed 19-year-old A.A. Mekić fully admitted to committing the aforementioned criminal offense, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.  

As a reminder, on August 29, around 8 PM, Sarajevo Emergency Medical Service informed the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs that they had an intervention at Zuke Džumhura Street and were transporting an injured female to the Clinical University Center (KUM) with a back injury sustained from a sharp object.

– Police officers from the Centar Police Station learned at KUM that it was A.A., born in 1996 from Sarajevo, who stated that around 7 PM, she sustained injuries from an unknown perpetrator. The duty doctor at KUM determined that the injuries were grievous bodily harm, life-threatening, and the injured person was kept for further treatment.

The duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton was informed of the incident. The prosecutor did not visit the scene, and investigation activities were carried out by police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton under the prosecutor's authorization – the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs announced at the time.
