Interim Syrian President Announces Formation of New Government

(Patria) - Interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa congratulated the nation on the formation of a new cabinet of ministers, calling it a government of construction and change, TASS reported late last night.

"Our country is entering a new historical period on the path to a better future," Sharaa said.

"We announce the formation of the Government of Construction and Change, which will rebuild and reform," he added.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense in the transitional Syrian government, Asaad al-Shaibani and Murhaf Abu Qasra, retained their positions in the new government.

Anas Hassan Khattab, who headed the General Intelligence Service of Syria, was appointed Minister of Interior.

Hind Kabawat was appointed as the new Minister of Social Affairs and Labor.
