Konya Chamber of Commerce Organises Business Forum in Sarajevo: Cooperation Agreements Signed

(Patria) - The Konya Chamber of Commerce held a gala programme of the Konya–Sarajevo Business Forum in Sarajevo with the participation of a 250-member delegation, emphasising Turkey's commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić thanked the Konya Chamber of Commerce for organising the event and stated that the friendship between the two countries will be further strengthened through economic cooperation.

He highlighted the stability, the European integration process and the regional position of Bosnia and Herzegovina as factors that make the country attractive to investors.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is an attractive centre for investment. There are significant opportunities in the areas of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and tourism. We invite businessmen from Konya to invest, develop joint projects and improve our trade,” said Zvizdić.

Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Emin Akseki pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks first in Turkish investments in the Balkans.

He emphasised that Turkey, in line with the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attaches special importance to the development of relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina in all areas.

“Konya has always shown a strong interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the war period. Today it is here to share its economic and trade experience with the Bosnian business community,” said Akseki, adding that the embassy is ready to provide support to Turkish investors.

President of the Konya Chamber of Commerce Selcuk Ozturk recalled that the trade exchange between the two countries has reached one billion dollars, stressing that “the friendship between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey is not only a historical bond, but also a key to joint development”.

Mayor of Konya Ugur Ibrahim Altay stated that Konya is ready to invest its industrial, agricultural and technological capacities in joint projects, assessing that the bridges built in Sarajevo are “not only bridges of trade, but also bridges of friendship and a shared future”.

Governor of Konya Ibrahim Akin emphasised that Bosnia and Herzegovina has “a special place in our hearts” and that such steps will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the wider region.

During the programme, cooperation agreements were signed with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and direct meetings were held between companies from Konya and Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding possible joint investments and access to third markets.

Ozturk concluded by stressing that “the steps taken today will grow into investments not only for the present but also for the future”, highlighting Konya's readiness to make a full contribution to building a shared future with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
