Pristina: Tear gas, fires, smashed shop windows

Kosovo's Prime Minister Isa Mustafa was twice hit with eggs, tear gas was also seen in the Kosovo parliament, and on Monday evening there were riots in the streets, reports the Patria News Agency.

Former leader of the Self-Determination Movement Albin Kurti was held responsible for throwing tear gas during a session of the Assembly, his MPs attacked the head of the Kosovo government, and he was arrested, after which supporters of the radical movement caused riots in Pristina.

Immediately after Kurti's arrest, the Self-Determination Movement called on its activists to gather at the police station and protest the arrest.

They threw stones at the police, who used tear gas to disperse them. Several police officers and activists were injured in these clashes, and several vehicles were set on fire, reports "Gazeta Express".

The clashes spread to a lesser extent to other parts of Pristina, where stones were thrown at the offices of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

MPs from the Self-Determination Movement and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo blocked the work of the Kosovo assembly on October 8, dissatisfied with the agreements signed with Belgrade in Brussels.

In a statement to "Klan Kosova", Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hiseni said that the use of pyrotechnics is sanctioned by law. After a few hours, Kurti was released from the police station in Pristina, Pristina media reported.

His release was preceded by clashes between Self-Determination supporters and the police, in which there were injuries, writes B92.
