Members of the BiH Armed Forces continue to fight fire near Bosanski Grahovo

More than 30 members of the BiH Armed Forces, 1st Infantry Battalion/4th Infantry Brigade from Livno, along with other civil structure members, continued their engagement today in the operation to extinguish the fire in the area of the municipality of Bosanski Grahovo, reports the Patria News Agency.

The engagement of the BiH AF members has been ongoing since yesterday, as the fire has not been localized due to extremely high temperatures and strong winds that have affected the entire area of Bosnia, and especially Herzegovina. It is important to emphasize that all members of the BiH AF, as well as the members of civil structures participating in this operation, are safe and that the operation is being successfully carried out on the ground.

It is planned that a BiH AF helicopter will be engaged in the afternoon, which, after surveying the endangered area and assessing the situation, will possibly be engaged to support the forces on the ground. It is expected that through the joint action of the Armed Forces and civil structures at the active fire sites, this fire will be localized by the end of the day.

Following the successfully completed operation to extinguish the fire in the municipality of Bileća late last night, members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion/4th Infantry Brigade were withdrawn to the "Bilećki borci" barracks in Bileća during the night. Currently, a duty infantry unit is stationed at the barracks, which is on standby for potential engagement in accordance with requests and identified needs.

A Mi-8 helicopter operated in the area of the municipality of Bileća yesterday after 6 PM, dropping approximately 17,000 liters of water in seven sorties. This once again successfully demonstrated the capability of the BiH AF for rapid, timely, and effective response and provision of assistance to civil authorities and the population.

The BiH Armed Forces are on constant alert to be engaged, upon request from civil authorities and the population, with all available forces and means, within the scope of available operational capacities and capabilities, in providing assistance to civil authorities and the population in responding to such and similar crisis and emergency situations where necessary, it was announced from the BiH Ministry of Defence.
