Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police Seize 16 Kilograms of Marijuana

(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina Border Police seized 16 kilograms of marijuana in cooperation with officials from the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Una-Sana Canton and Sarajevo Canton

Members of the Izačić Border Police Unit, on August 17, 2023, seized 16 kilograms of a herbaceous substance that, by its appearance and smell, resembles Cannabis sativa.

The aforementioned narcotic drug was discovered during the inspection and control of a passenger motor vehicle Audi, with BiH license plates, in the border area in the vicinity of Bihać. The Border Police of BiH led this activity, and the mentioned narcotic drug was discovered in cooperation with members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Una-Sana Canton and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.

The vehicle was driven by V.M. (1996), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to the grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense of Unauthorized Production and Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs was committed, the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Una-Sana Canton and the judge for preliminary proceedings of the Municipal Court in Bihać were informed about the event, according to whose orders V.M. was deprived of liberty and the vehicle was searched.

In addition to 16 kilograms of the narcotic drug marijuana, a smaller quantity of the narcotic drug cocaine was discovered, as well as a certain amount of money. The aforementioned and other items used as means of committing the criminal offense were temporarily confiscated.

Suspect V.M. will be handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Una-Sana Canton, along with the Report on the committed criminal offense of Unauthorized Production and Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs. Members of the Border Police of BiH will continue with further activities related to the mentioned event in the coming period.
