Prim. dr. Hidajet Mudrov: JZU Health Center Tešanj performs 230,000 examinations annually

Public Institution Health Center “Izudin Mulabećirović Izo” Tešanj was founded in 1996 by the decision of the Municipal Council Tešanj, and in 2012 the institution harmonized its organizational form with the Law on Health Care of FBiH, and was re-registered as Public Institution Health Center “Izudin Mulabećirović Izo” Tešanj, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

The Tešanj Health Center was originally founded in 1945 as a health station, which grew into a Health Center in 1955.

The Tešanj Health Center currently has 145 employees, including 38 doctors of medicine, of whom 26 are specialists and 12 are family medicine doctors. As stated by the director, prim. dr. Hidajet Mudrov, the institution performs approximately 230,000 examinations annually.

- Our municipality has about 46,000 inhabitants, of whom 40,000 are registered and have health insurance. Our duty is to care for registered patients, as well as all patients who need primary healthcare. Patients from neighboring municipalities of Usora, Maglaj, and Doboj Jug often come to our institution, and we provide them with adequate health services – says Dr. Mudrov.

Although they do not lack medical staff, Dr. Mudrov states that they need a multifunctional ambulance vehicle and the relocation of the Laboratory Diagnostics Service.

- The institution does not have a fully equipped ambulance for transporting emergency cases. Furthermore, the laboratory diagnostics service is located on the 3rd floor of the institution, which makes it difficult for elderly and frail patients to access, and it needs to be relocated to the 1st floor. By following public calls from various non-governmental organizations, we are trying to find the best solutions for the current problems of the institution – says the director.

The institution has equipped facilities in the city of Tešanj and in 9 local communities. It consists of 18 services (Emergency Medical Service, Family Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, CBR for Mental Health, Pneumophthisiology Health Service, Hygiene-Epidemiological Service, Home Health Care, Health Care for Children and Youth, Oral and Dental Health Care, Occupational Medicine, Women's Health Care, Laboratory Diagnostics, Specialist-Consultative Service, General Health Protection, Economic-Financial Affairs Service, General, Legal and Personnel Affairs Service, Technical Services, RTG Diagnostics).

In addition, the institution's management has established special departments within the services: Center for Early Childhood Growth and Development, Jelah Biochemical Laboratory, and Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic.

Its main activities are the early detection, prevention, and control of the causes of illness and injury, as well as care for the health of the population.

The mission of this institution is to provide quality medical services that will ensure the satisfaction of patients and users in the municipality of Tešanj and beyond.

- Our vision is to be a recognizable and respected health institution that ensures top quality, knowledge, and capability in providing medical services in the field of primary healthcare. In order to achieve this vision, in cooperation with the Agency for Quality and Accreditation in Healthcare of FBiH (AKAZ), the institution has begun the process of accreditation and achieving quality and safety indicators. The goal is to establish a quality service from the porter to the institution's manager in the shortest possible time – state the institution.

The institution's management continuously enables internships and volunteer work, and provides employees with opportunities to attend seminars and various lectures. In addition, internal training of staff is conducted to raise the level of expertise and quality of service provision.

- As a person who believes in the necessity of constant hard work and achieving new goals, I believe there is always room for improvement. The efforts and commitment of our institution's management in achieving the highest goals of quality and safety in primary healthcare are unquestionable, but there is still much to be achieved, changed, and improved. However, all in all, I believe we are doing our job well and with quality, and that we are definitely one of the most organized health centers in the Federation – says Dr. Mudrov for the Patria agency.

The institution has successfully implemented a project to network family medicine practices and the Tešanj Health Center.

- I believe this is an efficient and effective project that has helped and continues to contribute to the improvement of healthcare. Thanks to this project, the institution has implemented the AIS information system, which allows the director constant insight into the work of all family medicine doctors. Furthermore, all patient health records and data will be in electronic form, which will enable faster, more efficient, and higher quality healthcare services.

During the year, about 90,000 examinations are performed in local clinics. All citizens in all local communities can receive faster and higher quality examinations and diagnoses, and do not have to incur financial costs and come to the main building of the Tešanj Health Center.

- We have quality, educated, and capable staff in the clinics who can respond to all the challenges and demands of citizens in the local communities – emphasizes Dr. Mudrov.

Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations

Projects of social importance are continuously being implemented, which contributes to cooperation and support from non-governmental organizations. Currently, the institution cooperates with organizations from BiH, Japan, and Kuwait.

The institution has established excellent cooperation with sports associations, clubs, and humanitarian organizations at the local and regional levels. The management supports the realization of all sports events and humanitarian actions, for which it has received numerous commendations and acknowledgments. Due to significant support and contributions to affected areas during last year's natural disasters, the institution received special recognition from the Red Cross of ZE-DO Canton, the Municipality of Tešanj, and several humanitarian organizations from neighboring municipalities.

- In the post-war period, we best understood what it means to ask for help, and how much small actions and initiatives mean. At that time, we did not have enough materials, staff, or space, but we tried, and thanks to the support of the local administration, several individuals, and organizations, we have created a successful and quality health institution that offers numerous services and strives to ensure quality and safety – says Dr. Mudrov.

He also stated that they are in constant cooperation with humanitarian organizations in this area and jointly strive to provide the most necessary things for the normal life of fellow citizens, as well as citizens in neighboring municipalities.
