SARAJevo, (Patria) - Ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha, which Muslims around the world will begin celebrating on Sunday, August 11, 2019, and which lasts for the next four days, the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, in agreement with the Coordination Body for the work of public kitchens, as well as representatives of the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs and the Veterinary Inspection Inspectorate, has determined the procedure for receiving and storing sacrificial meat in accordance with legal regulations.
The reception of sacrificial meat during the first three days of Eid will also be organized in the premises of the "Stari Grad" soup kitchen according to the established schedule. On Sunday (August 11) and Monday (August 12), the reception of sacrificial meat will be from 9 AM to 6 PM, while on the third day of Eid al-Adha (Tuesday, August 13), meat reception will be organized from 9 AM to 3 PM.
If citizens perform the ritual slaughter of sacrificial animals individually in private households and wish to donate the sacrificial meat to one of the public kitchens in Sarajevo, they must submit a Certificate of Health Status (of the animal) of the sacrificial animal (Form A-1), which they obtain from the seller of the sacrificial animal. The aforementioned document must not be older than ten days. If the ritual slaughter of sacrificial animals is performed in a registered facility under the supervision of the cantonal veterinary inspection, a Certificate of Health Status of the animal consignment (Form 2A) is required, issued by the competent inspector at the place of slaughter.
Citizens can submit the required documents in original or copy. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that public kitchens in Sarajevo Canton will not accept heads and offal from sacrificial meat. All additional information and clarifications can be obtained by citizens by calling the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs at 061/160-926.
The Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton will provide additional financial resources for all public kitchens to adequately store the collected sacrificial meat and use it long-term for preparing higher-quality meals in public kitchens.
In addition to the aforementioned "Stari Grad" soup kitchen, located at Halači 6 Street in Baščaršija, during the first three days of Eid al-Adha, citizens can also bring their sacrificial meat to the addresses of other public kitchens in Sarajevo Canton: the Red Cross Central Kitchen at Braće Begić 11 Street in Koševsko brdo, the MDD "Merhamet" soup kitchen at Safeta Hadžića 177 Street in Švrakino selo, and to the premises of the "Kruh svetog Ante" soup kitchen at Zagrebačka 21 Street in Grbavica or at Lava Tolstoja b.b. Street in Dobrinja.
