Prijedor Police Prosecute "Ljuti Krajišnici"!

Police officers of the Criminal Police Sector, CJB Prijedor, have submitted to the District Prosecutor's Office Banja Luka, Branch Office Prijedor, a report on committed criminal acts of „Preventing an official from performing official duties“ and „Causing national, racial and religious hatred and intolerance“ against persons J.O., D.J., S.M., all from Prijedor, Patria reports.

This announcement prompted a reaction from the Association „Ljuti Krajišnici“, who expressed concern over the press release issued to the media by the Prijedor Public Security Center.

 
- The fan group "Ljuti Krajišnici" is registered as a non-governmental association whose goal, among other things, is to help people in need. We operate as a legally registered legal entity. Thus, after the May floods, we came to Prijedor in an organized manner with a truck of humanitarian aid, distributing it to all citizens of Prijedor regardless of national and religious affiliation. There are photographs and video recordings of this, capturing touching encounters with the citizens of Prijedor, especially with citizens of Serbian nationality. Our name helps strengthen other identities, not just national ones - the statement reads.

Furthermore, they state that it is true that on July 20, 2014, with the best intentions, they spontaneously came to Prijedor to attend the collective funeral and burial of 284 innocent civilian war victims, including ten identified members of the family of our minor member A.D.

It is true that at the exit from Kozarac, after the funeral, an incident occurred in which there were multiple perpetrators. Among others, the aforementioned individuals, and allegedly a prevented member of the Prijedor police who, exceeding his authority, and in the presence of a huge number of grieving family members, violently attacked one person, which led to a reaction from the present citizens and then from some of our members who acted in the heat of the moment and emotionally. We are concerned by the fact that the basis of the police investigation is a video recording posted on a large number of websites, and that the police are only dealing with that part of the event - the statement continues, and they claim that during the arrest and interrogation, members of the organization were subjected to threats and shouts from investigators that were more than inappropriate for the time and space in which we live.

We remind the public that on September 14 in Prijedor, after a basketball game between Serbia and the United States of America, the Čaršijska Mosque was attacked. That incident was also recorded on cameras, and the perpetrators of that event were quickly discovered and known to the Prijedor police. To make the irony even greater, this event occurred in the presence of Prijedor police officers. However, unlike the case in Kozarac, this event was characterized as "damage or theft of another's property". For who knows how many times, the broken windows were replaced, and citizens of the Islamic faith remained in fear, both of future events and of the police themselves, who further humiliated them with their press release - they state.

- Therefore, we express our deep concern over the selective approach of the Prijedor police, which in this way sends a worrying message to citizens of Prijedor of non-Serbian nationality. We do not shy away from our possible responsibility, but we have enough reason to doubt the intentions of the Chief of the Prijedor CJB and to be concerned about the fair treatment of the three individuals against whom the report was submitted, who were also selectively chosen because they are persons from the Prijedor area, one of whom is not even seen in the mentioned video recording - the statement concludes.
