Prijedor: Silent walk for victims and 102 murdered children

Hundreds of citizens paid tribute to the victims of crimes in Prijedor when, 24 years ago, Serbian authorities ordered the non-Serb population to mark their apartments and houses with white sheets and themselves with white armbands, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

A silent walk through the city and laying of flowers in the main city square paid tribute to 102 children murdered in the Prijedor genocide. An installation of children's shoes was set up, sending a message to local authorities to finally approve the construction of a memorial. A petition with signatures for the construction of the memorial was submitted to the Prijedor Assembly in 2012, but it was never considered.

White Armband Day was marked in several cities in BiH, as well as in the region and the world.
