(Patria) - A prosecutor from the Department for Terrorism of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after questioning the suspect, proposed detention for the suspect Vuković Jahja, born in 1999 in Bihać, who was extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 22.10.2020 and is currently in custody.
The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is accused of traveling to Syria in 2014, where he joined formations within the Al Nusra Front terrorist organization, which was declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council. He stayed there until 2019, after which he hid in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, where he was located, deprived of liberty, and extradited to the justice system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Detention has been proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points a), b), c), and d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH. The prosecutor assessed that only detention for the suspect Jahija Vuković can prevent the possibility of escape, prevent influence on witnesses, accomplices, and co-perpetrators, as well as the destruction, concealment, alteration, or falsification of evidence or traces important for the criminal proceedings, as well as prevent the possibility of re-offending, and protect public order and the safety of citizens.
The proposal has been submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
