(Patria) - A story with a happy ending occurred on the eve of the Christmas holidays.
Namely, a Romanian woman from Neamț county, who disappeared almost 17 years ago, was found alive and well and reunited with her daughter, writes the portal Libertatea.ro.
The woman disappeared in 2009, leaving behind her then 14-year-old daughter. From that moment on, the police launched extensive searches that extended not only throughout Romania but also to other European countries, but for years there was no trace of her.
A turning point came on December 9 this year, when border police officers in Timișoara identified the woman upon entering the country. The police system immediately flagged her as a wanted person.
An investigation revealed that after leaving her hometown, she had built a completely new life in Italy, where she had been living all these years.
The reunion of mother and daughter after more than 15 years was an extremely touching moment, and the police officers who worked on the case described it as a "true Christmas miracle".
"The reunion of mother and daughter, after more than a decade and a half, remains one of the most emotional stories of this time of year - a true Christmas miracle, made possible by the continuous work of the police officers and the hope that was never lost," the Neamț police stated.
