Online fraud: Young man from Šipovo received a piece of wood instead of a phone

26-year-old M.G. reported to the Šipovo Police Station that he arranged an exchange via the internet site "Pik.ba" with a person who introduced themselves as E.H. from Maglaj, reports the Patria news agency.

M.G. sent his phone and money by express mail, and instead of the phone, he found a piece of wood in the package sent by E.H. The material damage amounts to around 500 KM.

Police officers, in coordination with the District Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka, are taking measures and actions to shed light on the criminal offense of fraud, as well as to identify and prosecute the perpetrator.

The Banja Luka Police Administration warns citizens to be especially cautious when conducting business through online classifieds, primarily the "Pik.ba" site, through which a significant number of fraud offenses have been recorded recently, where instead of the agreed product, they receive another product of negligible value.

The Banja Luka Police Administration invites persons who have been victims of fraud in the same or similar manner to report to the nearest police station or by calling 122, the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska announced.
