Beaten at a Charity Evening: TK Prosecutor's Office Investigates Death of 66-Year-Old Man from Gračanica, Four Persons Arrested

(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of the Tuzla Canton is conducting an investigation into the death of a 66-year-old man from Gračanica, who, according to the report, was first beaten on January 11 at a charity evening, and then on January 15 died from the injuries sustained at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.

- On January 11 at 2:30 AM, the Gračanica Police Station was reported that a fight had occurred in front of a catering facility, in which S.S. was injured. He was transported to the Emergency Medical Service of the Gračanica Health Center, and then to the University Clinical Center Tuzla, where he was kept for treatment. Police officers from the Gračanica Police Station and investigators from the Criminal Police Department of the Gračanica Police Administration were dispatched to the scene, and the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of TK was informed of the incident. According to their instructions, an investigation was carried out, and other actions are being taken as per the prosecutor's instructions - says Adnana Sprečić, spokesperson for the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of TK.

Four days after the unfortunate incident, the on-duty team of the University Clinical Center Tuzla reported to the Operations Center of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of TK that S.S. had died at 10 PM.

Investigators from the Criminal Police Department of the Gračanica Police Administration arrested four persons on January 17, 2025, all from Miričina. They are: S.K. (1991), O.S. (1983), V.S. (2002), and I.Š. (2000).

The investigation into this event is being conducted by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of TK, which is currently unable to release more information.

In the settlement of Miričina, municipality of Gračanica, a "Blue Evening" was organized on January 10 by FK Lokomotiva Miričina. The charity evening was intended for supporters and club members who would support the football club with their donations. Unfortunately, the charity evening ended in tragedy.

Senad Smajić was beaten by several persons, and all circumstances of the attack that ended fatally for Smajić are being determined by the Prosecutor's Office of TK.

Incidentally, Smajić worked for years in Slovenia and Germany and returned to spend his retirement days in Gračanica.
