British investigators have announced that they have a completely new lead in the case of missing Madeleine McCann, who disappeared in 2007 in a tourist resort in Portugal. According to police claims, the girl was allegedly abducted by a gang of burglars after a failed robbery, reports the Patria News Agency.
Metropolitan Police Chief Bernard Hogan-Howe stated in an interview that there is one last lead that the police can investigate.
Namely, the police are investigating whether three burglars who robbed several apartments in the resort from which Madeleine disappeared are involved in her abduction. The Portuguese police arrested them and released them. However, new leads and data about their mobile phone usage place them at the crime scene, and the Portuguese police do not want to arrest them again and allow British investigators to question them.
Let's recall, the Portuguese police declared Madeleine's parents as the main suspects in her disappearance, but they were cleared of suspicion in 2008. At that time, they also concluded the investigation, and the parents continued the investigation with the help of private detectives and Scotland Yard, writes Index.
