
(Patria) - Actor Matthew Perry, who became famous in the 1990s as the sarcastic and witty Chandler Bing in the hit American television comedy "Friends", was found dead at the age of 54 on Saturday in his Los Angeles home, American media report.
The Los Angeles Times and TMZ.com, citing unnamed police sources, reported that Perry was found dead in a hot tub or jacuzzi.
NBC News, citing an unnamed actor's agent and the police, reported that the actor died of apparent drowning at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Perry was best known for his long-running role as Bing in the extremely successful series "Friends", which aired for 10 seasons on NBC from 1994 to 2004, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow.
Emergency services found Perry dead around 4 PM on Saturday. There was police tape around his home and helicopters were circling overhead. His mother, Suzanne, appeared with the police.
